Virat Kohli Born on 5 November  1988 Virat Kohli is an Indian cricket player who plays for his nation in One Day International and Test matches. After India won the 2024 T20 World Cup Kohli retired from the T20I format. He bats right-handed and occasionally bowls medium-pace right-arm .

Kohli has the highest IPL run-scoring record, is ranked fourth in international cricket, third in T20I, and third in ODI. He is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time and is second in the list of international centuries scored in cricket and holds the record for most ODI centuries.

 2008 Under 19 Cricket World Cup 2011 Cricket World Cup 2013 Champions Trophy  and 2024 T20 World Cup were all won by the Indian squad that included Kohli and Also  Kohli took India to four consecutive ICC Test titles in 2017–2018–2019.

In the Indian Premier League, he plays domestic cricket for both Delhi and Royal Challengers Bengaluru and  In 2013  Kohli was ranked first in the ICC rankings for ODI batsmen and In 2015  he also achieved the same feat in the T20I rankings and He became the only Indian player to be ranked first in all three formats when he was named the best Test batsman in 2018.

He is the first player to reach 20000 runs in a decade and In 2020  the ICC named him the male cricketer of the decade. With ten ICC Awards under his belt, Kohli is the most awarded player in the history of international cricket and  He was named the ICC ODI Player of the Year four times  in 2012  2018  and 2023 and Also  he won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy twice in 2017 and 2018  which is given to the ICC Cricketer of the Year.

Virat Kohli was born into a Punjabi Hindu family in Delhi on 5 November 1988 and His mother Saroj Kohli was an a housewife and his father Prem Nath Kohli worked on criminal law and Kohli’s father passed away from a cerebral attack on December 18, 2006.

2008–2009: Debut and maiden stint

Kohli was added to the ODl team in August 2008 for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the Sri Lankan tour. With just eight List A games under his name, Kohli had little experience before the Sri Lankan tour, A “surprise call-up” was thus the term used to describe his selection. Due to injuries that prevented both first-choice openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag from playing during the Sri Lankan tour, Kohli had to serve as the series’ makeshift opener.

At the age of 19  Kohli made his national debut in the first One Day International of the tour on  18 August 2008  but he was dismissed for 12 runs after being caught dead in front by an incutter from Nuwan Kulasekara and  However  Kohli scored his first half century in the ODl format with fifty four runs in the series’ fourth game.

In the September 2008 unofficial Test match against Australia A  Kohli was picked to replace Shikhar Dhawan  who was injured  in the India A team and  He was also picked to play in the November 2008 home ODI series against England after the Champions Trophy was rescheduled for 2009 and However  he was not given the opportunity to play any of the games.

As part of the Indian national team’s annual contract list  the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awarded Kohli a Grade D contract in December 2008  which included ₹1.5 million in compensation and  In December 2009  he was included in the team for the home ODI series against Sri Lanka and  After he recovered  Yuvraj was replaced for the third ODI after scoring 27 and 54 in the first two.

Kohli became the fastest player to reach 27000 runs in international cricket and  He broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record in the second Test match against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium  taking 594 innings instead of Tendulkar’s 623 and Now  only Ricky Ponting  Kumar Sangakkara  and Virat Kohli have achieved this record in international cricket.

In 2024  Kohli invested in and became a co-owner of FC Goa an Indian Super League team.

In 2018  Kohli broke the previous record and became the first player to reach 1 000 ODI runs in 11 innings in a calendar year.

In 2022  he achieved yet another milestone by becoming the second player after Mahela Jayawardene to reach 1000 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and During the match against Bangladesh  he became the player with the most runs in the history of the T20 World Cup.
