Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir: was born into a Punjabi Hindu Khatri family in New Delhi India on October 14 1981. While his mother Seema Gambhir housewife his father Deepak Gambhir runs a textile company. He studied at Modern School in New Delhi for his education and started playing cricket when he was ten years old.

Gambhir was a left handed opening batsman who captained the Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League IPL and played domestic cricket for Delhi.

From 2003 to 2016 he played all game formats for India. From 2019 to 2024 he served in the 17th Lok Sabha.
Gautam Gambhir of India was one of the most flexible batters in the game from 2008 to the 2011 World Cup opening well in all three formats. Like Sachin Tendulkar in the final quarter of his career, he could be more aggressive than Virender Sehwag, played the kind of back-to-the-wall innings that would make Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman proud, and accumulated without taking many chances.
Gautam Gambhir Debut
Gambhir was one of four international cricket players and the only Indian to scored hundreds in five consecutive Test matches.

From late 2010 to late 2011, he captained the Indian team in six One-Day Internationals (ODIs), all of which India won. He was crucial to India’s successes in the 2011 Cricket World Cup final (97 from 122) and the 2007 World Twenty20 final (75 runs from 54 balls). After leading the Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL championships in 2012 and 2014, Gambhir went on to coach them to the win in 2024. Gambhir was one of four international cricket players and the only Indian to scored hundreds in five consecutive Test matches.
Gautam Gambhir Retirement
In December 2018 he announced that he was retiring from all cricket related activities. In 2019 he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and was elected to the East Delhi Lok Sabha. In the Indian Premier League seasons of 2022 and 2023 Gautam was the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants. He was appointed coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders before the 2024 season. In July 2024 he was appointed India head coach for three years.
In the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in October 2018 he achieved his 10000 run in List A cricket. Gambhir announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on 3 December 2018 prior to his final Ranji Trophy match for the Delhi cricket team against the Andhra cricket team on 6 December .Gambhir reached own 43rd century in first class cricket with 112 runs in his final innings.
Gambhir declared in 2024 that he was leaving politics to focus on his cricketing activities.
On 9 July 2024 Gambhir replaced as head coach of the Indian Men Cricket Team succeeding Rahul Dravid.
Gambhir faced Bangladesh in his first One Day International match in 2003. gambhir played his first Test match against Australia the following year.

He played a key role in India wins in the 2007 World T20 final (75 runs from 54 balls) and the 2011 Cricket World Cup final (97 from 122). Gambhir coached the Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in 2024 after leading them to IPL titles in 2012 and 2014.

Gautam Gambhir Records
He is the only batsman from India to reach 300 runs or more in four consecutive Test matches. As of July 2024 he is the twelfth highest run scorer for India in 20-20 Internationals.

Over his career Gambhir received many awards including the Indian government’s 2019 Padma Shri award for his contributions to sports.
The Arjuna Award the nation’s second highest sports honor was given to him by the president of India in 2008. According to the 2009 ICC Test rankings he was the best batsman. In the same year he was named the ICC Test Player of the Year.
