Rohit Sharma speaks

The way we started with the ball was excellent and w e knew it would be slightly better to bat under lights. We relied on our experience to get the runs. Credit goes to people like Axar, Kuldeep, and Jadeja. Rizwan and Shakeel form a strong partnership and it was critical not to let the game drift away not to mention how Hardik, Shami, and Harshit bowled as well.

We’ve played a lot of this format together. It can get tricky at times. Axar and Kuldeep stepped up today. (About Kohli) He enjoys representing the country. He wants to be outside. We’ve seen it with him through the years. The people in the dressing room aren’t surprised. The hamstring is fine at the moment.

Virat Kohli Speaks

To be honest, it feels good to bat in that manner in an important game to ensure qualification. It feels good to contribute in a game where we lost Rohit early, and we had to apply what we learned in the previous game. My job was to control the middle overs against the spinners without taking too many risks towards the end, Shreyas accelerated, and I received a few boundaries as well. It enabled me to play my usual ODI match. I have a good understanding of my game it’s about avoiding outside noise, staying in my space, and taking care of my energy and thoughts. It’s ease to caught up in the expectations.

My job is to stay in the moment and do my part for the team. My mantra to myself is to give it my all every time, and God will eventually reward you. Clarity is essential it was important to understand that you must get runs when there is pace on the ball; otherwise, the spinners will dictate the game.

Shubman performed admirably against Shaheen, taking him on. There’s a reason he’s the best batter in the world. We needed to get about 60-70 runs on the powerplay or we’d be constantly chasing the game. Shreyas is coming into his own at number four. I did well in India and am now doing well here. (On having a week off) To be honest, it feels great to be 36. I’ll rest for a few days because putting that much effort into each game drains me.
