Since 2008  the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have participated in the Indian Premier League as a professional T20 franchise cricket team  representing the city of Kolkata and The Eden Gardens in Kolkata is the team’s home ground and However, KKR may play their home games outside of Eden Gardens during the IPL 2025 season due to the stadium’s impending renovations for the ICC Men’s 2026 T20 World Cup.
